How do I change Windows XP to vista?

DON'T.

There's your answer right there.
How do I change Windows XP to vista?
Why would you want to go from a good OS to a terrible one? If you must upgrade, go with Win7...
How do I change Windows XP to vista?
do you have a disc with Windows Vista on it? if you dont: get one

if you do: whilst running xp, insert the vista disc and select the upgrade or install button
1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

2. Press a key when you are prompted.

3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.

4. Click Repair your computer.

5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.

7. Type Bootrec.exe /FixMbr, and then press ENTER.

That's it. Now when you reboot your PC, Vista will load automatically...
dont! Windows Vista sux..
Don't do that! Haven't you heard? Vista is plagued with problems. If you are having problems with XP maybe its time to reinstall it.
DONT DO THAT , vista is hopeless if you must , upgrade to vista for free and then to Windows 7 or just do a clean install off Windows 7 , DONT GO TO VISTA
For free, you don't.

There's downloadable themes that will make it LOOK like vista, for free.

I believe there are upgrade disks out there, not sure. if not, you will need to delete your entire hard drive, and install vista from a disk, which would be turning on your computer in xp, putting the disk in your commuter, shutting down, and starting it with the disk in. Then follow the steps, its not hard.

Vista is a nice OS once you get the service packs in. People that are anit-vista generally hopped on the band wagon of people that don't know what a service pack is, and/or are using a sucky machine, or are too lazy to relearn where stuff is. the thought of My documents being under the folder %26quot;user%26quot; instead of %26quot;documents and settings%26quot; scares them.

I do recommend 7 unless you have the vista disk already. skipping vista and going to windows 7 si a good choice, I've run 7 for a while, it is more efficient than xp and vista. I have 7 currently on a system with 512 mb of ram and penile 4 processor, cruddy graphics card. Vista won't touch it, xp laggs in it, 7 is happy.

I would be very careful about using the second link as I went to test it and when I extracted the files it froze my screen and automatically shut down ALL of my security software.....so I could not even check to see if it was secure....so I had to reboot and get rid of everything associated with it.... errrrrrrrr

Just be careful...

How do I change Windows XP to my name as owner/user?

My brother gave me his old computer with Windows XP installed. He also gave me the OEM software on CD%26#039;s. I would like to remove him as owner/operator (?) and replace it with my name. Is this possible, and, if so, what is the best way to do it?|||go to control panel

click on user accounts

click change an account

Click his name

Change it to yours.

click change name

The liscences on the programs like office will show him registered as the user. The only way that I know of to remedy this is to

make sure you have the program disc and product key

Uninstall the program control panel%26gt;add/remove programs

re-install the program with your name....|||Check this link|||To do this, simply go to Control Panel and then User Accounts. Then create a new account. After you do this, and you log into your new account with administrative privileges, then you can delete his old account. You cannot delete the Only account with Administrative privileges.|||It certainly is. Just go to

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS | COMPUTER MANAGEMENT | LOCAL USERS AND GROUPS. There, you can delete his account or just change yours to an Administor. Or both.|||idk haha|||Everyone except %26quot;mrresearc...%26quot; have misunderstood your question.

Follow these steps (be careful in the registry .. create a new system restore point first ... just in case)

Use the %26quot;regedit%26quot; program.

Go to :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\鈥?NT\CurrentVersion

Modify the strings values of %26#039;RegisteredOwner%26#039; and %26#039;RegisteredOrganization%26#039; to whatever you like.

(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)

RegisteredOwner REG_SZ %26quot;Your Brother%26quot;

RegisteredOrganization REG_SZ %26quot;Your Brother Inc.%26quot;

How to change windows vista to windows xp?

I bought a new computer and it came with windows vista which really sucks and I wanted to know if there is anyway I could change it to windows xp.I perfer windows xp so much more.Anyone? Please help. Thanks!|||First, there is nothing wrong with Vista. I am running it and have been running it for about 7 months with out any problems. You should really learn to use it because it is the operating system of the future. It won%26#039;t be all that long before Microsoft no longer supports XP.

But if you must go backwards remember that you will need all of the drivers ans software that came with your new machine so that it will run properly after you install XP. If this info in on a partition on your hard drive, then you will need to back it up and hope that there is a section that you can use to reinstall the drivers. You will need drivers for the sound, the PCI buss bridge, the video, and any other hardware that came with your machine.

Before you can install XP you will need to remove all evidence of Vista. The best way to to this is to use the %26quot;fdisk%26quot; feature that is contained on a old Win98 boot disk. After you have removed the Vista partition, you will be able to create a partition and format it to NTFS buy using your XP installation CD.

One more note on Vista. In the 7 months that I have used it I have had %26quot;NO%26quot; freeze up, blue screens, or any other problems. It is fast, secure , and very stable. I really do suggest that you learn to use it.|||This becomes a little difficult because if your new machine is like the one my wife has it has a partition for software. If you have these on CD then great. All you have to do is just FDISK the HD. Be careful because this will delete all data. Then with your XP CD reload the OS back onto the machine. Hopefully your CD%26#039;s will re-load the software back on. Just be sure though or go through the manufacturer and see if they have anything as well.|||If you have the Windows XP disc, hopefully the full version, put it in the cdrom and have it boot up from the cdrom and Windows XP boot screen should load, have it format the partion Vista is on and install from there.
