How do i change my windows xp, user account name?
You can't change the main admin account name. You can create a new account calling it whatever you want that has administrator rights though.
It works this way because when or if there is a computer issue, the admin account is always the one you need to log into, if its called Mike and your logging in in safe mode it may cause issues so the computer is setup to look for that default of %26quot;administrator%26quot;
Step 1
Sign in to your Windows XP user account.
Step 2
Click %26quot;Start%26quot; in the taskbar.
Step 3
Highlight and open %26quot;Control Panel.%26quot; The Control Panel window will open.
Step 4
Select %26quot;User Accounts.%26quot; The window on the screen will turn into the User Accounts window.
Step 5
Click the %26quot;User Accounts%26quot; link at the bottom of the window. A new window will open.
Step 6
Choose the account that you wish to change from the accounts listed at the bottom of the window. Once you do, the window for that particular user account will open.
Step 7
Click %26quot;Change my password%26quot; to get to the password window for the user account.
Step 8
Type the current password for that Windows XP account in the %26quot;Type your current password%26quot; box.
Step 9
Enter in the new password in both the %26quot;Type a new password%26quot; text box and the %26quot;Type the new password again to confirm%26quot; text box.
Step 10
Type a hint for the new Windows XP password in the %26quot;Type a word or phrase to use as a password hint%26quot; text box.
Step 11
Click the %26quot;Change Password%26quot; button to finish.
Hope it helps you.

If i changed from windows xp to windows 7 RC could i change it back?
i know what would happen when you change but if i didnt like it could i change it back to xp and how
If i changed from windows xp to windows 7 RC could i change it back?
You have to install XP again. Windows 7 RC overwrites the previous OS and deletes every trace of non-Windows 7 system files and all the user files, so you have to go look for the reinstallation disc that came with your computer and install it again. Remember to copy all of your files to external media before proceeding to install Windows 7.

dual boot and have both

you will need a copy of windows xp and once you have changed to windows 7 and do not like then restart the pc and the xp disk in the cd drive and it will read the cd and ask you if you would like to boot from cd say yes
just setup win7rc to dual boot with your existing xp installation.
or if you want a safer way to test out win7 then you can use virtualbox or other virtualization software to try the os out
Yes you can. as long as you have the disks %26amp; codes for the disks.good for enlarged pores hairstyles for long hair

How do you change the windows xp task bar color to something other than silver, blue, and, olive green?
I'm not sure if you can change the color of the taskbar alone, but you change it by changing the color scheme. RIGHT-CLICK on your DESKTOP%26gt;%26gt;PORPERTIES%26gt;%26gt;APPEARANCE.
Right Click anywhere on the desktop (not on an icon), and to go the Appearance Tab. You can choose a style from there, or customise it to the colours you like.
- Right Click on the DESKTOP. Do not click on any icon when doing this.
- A window will appear and you'll Select PROPERTIES.
- A window will appear entitled %26quot;Display Properties%26quot;.
- Towards the top of this window are categories or Tabs. One of these Tabs is labelled %26quot;Appearance%26quot;.
- Click on APPEARANCE. Under this tab, you'll see the category entitled %26quot;Color Scheme%26quot;. Under that category you can change your colors.
- If you want to get really creative, click on the ADVANCED button and select your own colors for various things displayed in Windows XP.
Click the Start button on the bottom left corner of the screen, find %26quot;Control Panel%26quot; and click on it. This will open up a window, and from there click on the category that says %26quot;Appearance and Themes.%26quot; You can go to any of the options, because they all lead to the same window. Once you get to that window (it will say %26quot;Display Properties%26quot; at the top), click on the tab that says %26quot;Appearance.%26quot; There will be a drop-down arrow box that says %26quot;Color Scheme.%26quot; Click down on the arrow and pick the color you want your task bar: silver, olive green, or default blue. It's actually really simple. Good luck!

How do i retrieve the "@" sign on windows xp from factory settings (american u.s)?
What two keys change windows xp keyboard settings from its factory default e.g, the %26quot;@%26quot; key staying as speech marks? All the regional settings are in uk, but i distinctly remember that the last solution was to press two keys, possibly %26quot;shift and................. ?
How do i retrieve the %26quot;@%26quot; sign on windows xp from factory settings (american u.s)?
if it isn't on ur keyboard go on hatmail and it will give u an example copy and paste it. Or u could click on **** and two or shift and the key 2 spaces left to L.
How do i retrieve the %26quot;@%26quot; sign on windows xp from factory settings (american u.s)?
One question. Is the @ actually on the 2 key or is it where it should be with a ' on the same key like on a UK keyboard layout next but one to the Enter Key?
If it is the former you can't because you will change the whole keyboard layout all over it, and will affect a lot of other key functions and some characters wont be where they should be!
If it is the latter then it's in the US mode.
To change it to UK 鈻?br>
Control Panel 鈻?Regional %26amp; Languages 鈻?On the first page at the top change the drop down to English (UK) 鈻?At the bottom change the Location to United Kingdom 鈻?Advanced 鈻?Change that drop down to English (United Kingdom) 鈻?Apply and OK
If the problem is what I'm thinking of, in windows Vista, the two keys are CTRL + Shift.
You were on the right track!
shift + 2 = @

How can i change my windows xp account to admin without deleting my parents password basiclly i dont want?
them to know i wiped out there passwords????
How can i change my windows xp account to admin without deleting my parents password basiclly i dont want?
You can do two things.
First boot the computer into safe mode (F8 on startup after all the text or bootscreen) and select safe mode with networking.
Or if you know how to burn CD images try this.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ophcrack鈥?/a>
You'd have to first have your BIOS boot from a CD drive and load this cd after you've burned it with nero or some other image program.
This program loads up and finds all the passwords on the computer for each user without screwing with the files. It's great. But it can take up to half an hour to use.
Check google for more information on this stuff.
