Format your hard drive, do a clean install, but i'd stick with vista, with DirectX 10, games will be better graphically, the ausio will be better, and much much, more... stick with vista... it will make games awesome!!!

I believe that xp is better, because of less bloat in the software. It will run faster.
However, you must have a licensed copy of XP to install it. may save money to stick with vista.

uninstall the vista operating system(but know what you're doing) get the XP CD you want be it home or professional.put it in the CD Rom tray
follow prompts.although most techs will do it.that would be my last resort but could be worth the 40 or so to do it
