Hi I have a Windows XP and my account is a terrible limited account because my dad changed it!! How can i become an administrator because I'm banned from installing things and it's so annoying!!!!!

You have to be an administrator in order change or create an account. But there are a few ways around this. Boot the computer into Safe Mode, do this by pressing F8 before windows starts to load up. Once you get to the log on screen you should see the default administrator account. Click on that (there shouldn't be a password unless someone has set a password on it) as long as there isn't a password you can go into user accounts and change your standard account to an administrator account. There is also a way you can do it from the command line. if safe mode does not work post back and i can give you instructions on how to do it from the command line

The only way would be through the Administrator account, to switch your account.
So you have to option, either talk to your father about it or save up and buy your own computer.
Perhaps you should think about why your dad limited your ability to install things on the computer. Is it a shared computer? Have you installed things (browser toolbars, spyware, etc.) that affect other users?
Windows XP is a lot harder to crack than earlier versions of Windows. That's not to say it can't be done, but it's hard to do it (and not leave a trace). Perhaps you should talk with your dad and see if he won't agree to letting you install things after you discuss what you want to install and how it might affect others.

1.Restart your computer in safe mode by hitting F8 repeatedly at startup and select safe mode.
2.While in safe mode go to (Start)%26gt;Control panel%26gt;User accounts and change the administrators password or disable the password altogether!
3.Then restart into normal mode and you can go back into user accounts and change things if you like!
you can only change your account to admin if you have access to an admin account.
