You can't change the main admin account name. You can create a new account calling it whatever you want that has administrator rights though.
It works this way because when or if there is a computer issue, the admin account is always the one you need to log into, if its called Mike and your logging in in safe mode it may cause issues so the computer is setup to look for that default of %26quot;administrator%26quot;
Step 1
Sign in to your Windows XP user account.
Step 2
Click %26quot;Start%26quot; in the taskbar.
Step 3
Highlight and open %26quot;Control Panel.%26quot; The Control Panel window will open.
Step 4
Select %26quot;User Accounts.%26quot; The window on the screen will turn into the User Accounts window.
Step 5
Click the %26quot;User Accounts%26quot; link at the bottom of the window. A new window will open.
Step 6
Choose the account that you wish to change from the accounts listed at the bottom of the window. Once you do, the window for that particular user account will open.
