Some of the Eee PC's have very small solid state disks and might not be able to hold a full version of WinXP. So you will want to find out if WinXP will even fit on your Eee PC first. If it will... WinXP home is probably the smallest version... you'd have to get an OEM or retail version of the software... there is no free way... unless you are able to return your Eee. Newer versions of XP will not install without a licence key.

There isn't.

Return it back to the store you got it from and get a windows xp verison or buy windows xp and isntall it through a external dvd reader.

Besides I use pidgin and openofice all the time. It may takes some time to adjust to to a linux OS. BTW it is possible to install windows programs using WINE emulator, and the operating system on eeePC is a custom made debian operating system. So any linux program that has .deb at the end should be able to install.

Also linux is better at handling netbooks then windows xp.
Not unless you have a copy of XP or are willing to travel the legally gray area.
In order to install XP, you will have to purchase a license for XP.
